This time you will learn about Ceanothus velutinus, commonly called Red Root or Sticky Laurel. Ceanothus is not only a delicious pleasure tea and fragrant leaf used in hydrosols, but it is also a crucial plant in our ecosystem. It has nitrogen-fixing roots that work to correct the nitrogen levels in our soils, especially in areas after a clear-cut or large wildfire.
