Herbal Radio

Feb 10, 2022

We pulled this lecture from our Free Herbalism Project archive, just in time for Valentine’s Day! Listen along as jim mcdonald dives into aphrodisiacs, a popular and often problematic term. jim leans into his broad and inclusive definition of an aphrodisiac as “something that encourages greater sensation and presence and enjoyment of sexuality.” Looking at lists of plants deemed “aphrodisiacs,” we see everything from strong herbs (yohimbe) to culinary spices (ginger), from adaptogens (ashwangandha) to antispasmodics (kava). There are a lot of herbs that could be considered aphrodisiacs and as we’ll learn, what works for one person may not work for someone else. jim talks about what indications make certain herbs appropriate for certain people and offers engaging ideas to ponder with your loved ones.

The one and only, jim mcdonald is a community herbalist, a manic wildcrafter, a medicine maker, and has been an ardent student of the most learned teachers of herbcraft… the plants themselves. We hope you enjoy this episode on Herbal Radio.
