Mountain Rose Herbs sponsors five rescued raptors at the Cascade
Raptor Center in Eugene, Oregon. We spent an afternoon recently
visiting with one of them: Guapo, a handsome Swainson's hawk. This
beautiful raptor was such a joy to spend time with!
Swainson's hawks are large, slender natives of the western plains.
They are close in size and shape to our more common Red-tailed
hawks, but have longer, narrower, more pointed wings, and a smaller
bill and feet.
We apologize for the chainsaw noise in the background
for the first few minutes!
